Russia is fundamentally revising its commitments in international organizations: Lavrov

Russia is fundamentally revising its commitments in international organizations where Moscow's interests are violated. This was announced today by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. He noted that work is underway across the entire spectrum of international obligations, including discussions on investments within organizations.

“Wherever our interests are being infringed upon, we are postponing payments. This has happened, for example, in the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, where a mechanism that contradicts the convention and is illegitimate for other entities has been established. This work is in full swing, as we have several hundred such agreements and conventions there,” Lavrov stated during a speech at the State Duma's “Government Hour.”

The Russian Foreign Minister said that Moscow is now withdrawing from certain conventions and agreements that have become outdated. “There is no politics involved here. There was a 1992 convention on pension provision within the CIS framework, and all these issues have been long resolved under different legislative frameworks,” he clarified.
