Our three countries can bring lasting stability to the Caucasus with their sincere steps: Cavusoglu

During these difficult days, Armenia has extended a humanitarian hand to us, demonstrating solidarity and cooperation. This was stated by Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu after a meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan in Ankara, as reported by Armenpress.

“Today we met with the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan. After the earthquake, he visited us as a sign of solidarity with Turkey. Immediately after the earthquake, Prime Minister Pashinyan sent a condolence message to our president and expressed his readiness to provide assistance. Prime Minister Pashinyan also had a phone conversation with Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. After that, Armenia sent a search and rescue team to our country, which has been working with us in Adıyaman since February 8. They managed to rescue a little girl and a young woman from the rubble,” said the Turkish Foreign Minister, thanking the Armenian side for not leaving them alone during these difficult days.

Cavusoglu elaborated that Armenia sent 100 tons of humanitarian aid to earthquake-affected Turkey, and an additional batch is on the way. “Unfortunately, Armenia is also located in a seismic zone. The devastating earthquake in Spitak in 1988 is still in all our memories, during which Turkey also sent assistance to Armenia. Armenia also sent humanitarian aid during the earthquake that occurred in our country in 1999. Once again, during these difficult days, it has extended a humanitarian hand to us, showing solidarity and cooperation,” noted the Turkish Foreign Minister.

Mevlut Cavusoglu, in a statement to the press, also touched upon the bilateral meeting with Ararat Mirzoyan. He mentioned that during the meeting, they addressed the ongoing work regarding the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. “The normalization process continues in the South Caucasus. We are confident that the cooperation that took place during these days will contribute to this process. I believe that the normalization processes between Armenia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan will contribute to establishing stability and prosperity in our region. Our three countries can bring lasting stability to the Caucasian region with their sincere steps,” concluded the head of Turkey's foreign ministry.

Armenia's Foreign Minister-led delegation then traveled from Ankara to Adıyaman.
