NATO to Create Unified Satellite Reconnaissance Network
NATO's 16 member countries, along with Finland and Sweden, have agreed to create a unified network for satellite reconnaissance and surveillance from space. This was announced on the military alliance's official website.
The initiative is called the Alliance Permanent Surveillance from Space (APSS), with declared objectives including changing the methods of collecting and utilizing satellite data within the alliance, enhancing intelligence capabilities, and supporting NATO military operations.
One of the alliance members, Luxembourg, has already made a preliminary investment of 16.5 million euros for the establishment of the system.
