Yerevan City Council Extraordinary Elections Not Under Discussion: Tigran Avinyan

Every month various rumors are published in the media, and every month a new date for Yerevan City Council elections is announced, but currently, there are no changes to our faction’s action plan.

This was stated by Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan in an interview with Hraparak.am, responding to questions regarding media reports that the ruling Civil Contract Party (CP) will soon hold City Council elections and that he would become the mayor of Yerevan.

When asked if the CP will not go for extraordinary elections, Avinyan said, “There is nothing like that at the moment. The only place where I have received information on such a matter is from the media. There is no such conversation right now, and we do not have such an agenda.”

Regarding rumors about the decline in his and the CP’s ratings, Tigran Avinyan noted that they regularly conduct surveys, and the ratings and figures mentioned in the media do not reflect reality.

“We see no problems related to upcoming elections or ratings; we are currently doing our work,” Avinyan added.
