Data Leak of Drivers? 'Parking City Service' Denies Allegations, Case Reaches NSS

'Parking City Service' has categorically denied any data leak. The company's director, Vazgen Harutyunyan, assured Sputnik Armenia in an interview that this is misinformation.

User Leon Isajanyan wrote on his Facebook page that an unknown specialist put up for sale a database related to 'Parking City Service', which allegedly contains data totaling 2.7k including license plates, owner names, vehicle registration series, and phone numbers.

“We have traced the publication and tried to determine what kind of leak it is and where it came from. If you look closely, the names mentioned in the leak are in Latin script, while in the state database the names are filled in Armenian. Moreover, most of the owners of the license plates mentioned in that publication are not individuals with those names,” Harutyunyan explained.

According to him, they have preliminarily discovered that a private website founded in 2016 allows people to register their names, license plate numbers, vehicle registration series, and phone numbers, and that site was hacked leading to the data theft.

“We even tried to find out who this might be associated with, and we've found certain leads regarding who could be connected to this information, but none of this is related to our company. There has been no leak from our side,” the media interlocutor asserted.

Harutyunyan reported that the National Security Service (NSS) is also investigating this matter.
