NATO Countries to Sign 'Secret Manual' for Multiple Conflicts Application
During a meeting scheduled for February 14-15 in Brussels, NATO defense ministers will sign a 'secret manual' outlining action plans for engaging in 'high-intensity conflicts' on multiple fronts, Bloomberg reports.
The document pertains to Article 5 of NATO's charter, which obliges allies to defend each other. However, according to Bloomberg, the leadership anticipates participation by military bloc countries in conflicts 'beyond their area of responsibility.'
A senior NATO official stated that allies will be encouraged to redirect investments toward assets necessary for collective defense, including heavy weaponry, air defense, and missile defense systems. Additionally, the manual anticipates the need for further investments in 'digital modernization' for the 'integrated use of data collected by law enforcement agencies.'
Following the signing of the document, NATO's military command will detail the requirements for the coming months, according to Bloomberg.
