8,500 Dead, Nearly 10,000 Injured: Search and Rescue Operations in Syria Concluded

The Civil Defense Forces of Syria have announced that all search and rescue operations conducted following the devastating earthquake on February 6 have been officially terminated. This was reported by the Al-Hadath television channel.

Now that the rescue efforts have officially ceased, all internal forces in the country will be directed toward alleviating the consequences of the earthquake—removing debris, repairing damaged buildings, and demolishing the remains of completely destroyed structures.

It is worth recalling that according to the World Health Organization (WHO), the earthquake in Syria has resulted in approximately 8,500 fatalities.

Specifically, the WHO's Regional Emergency Director Richard Brennan had previously reported during a press briefing that around 4,000 people had died in areas controlled by the Syrian government, and 2,500 were injured. In northwest Syria, there were approximately 4,500 deaths and 7,500 injuries.
