Criminal Case Initiated Over Underwater Mine Explosion on Black Sea Coast in Batumi, Georgia

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has initiated a criminal case following an explosion from a naval mine on the Black Sea coast in the city of Batumi. The agency's press service reported this on Monday. The incident was also covered by TASS.

According to the report, the investigation is ongoing under the first part of Article 229 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to explosions.

As reported by the agency, after the Public Safety Management Center received an alert regarding the explosion in the sea, officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including bomb disposal experts and firefighters, arrived at the scene.

Earlier on Monday, the Rustavi 2 television channel reported on the explosion of a naval mine in the Black Sea near Batumi. Preliminary data indicate that there are no casualties.
