VIDEO: Tens of Thousands of Israelis Protest

Tens of thousands of Israelis took to the streets in several cities across the country on Saturday to protest against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government's plans to reform the judicial system, according to Associated Press.

Critics argue that the measures introduced by the hardline new government would weaken the Supreme Court, limit judicial oversight, and grant greater powers to politicians. The protesters believe that the implementation of these plans would undermine democracy in the country.

Disputes over the powers of the courts are intensifying as the government intends to present a number of legislative proposals to parliament on Monday, amid calls from business and professional groups for partial strikes. This marks the sixth consecutive week that protesters have continued to hold large demonstrations, the most significant of which occurred in downtown Tel Aviv, along with several smaller gatherings in other cities.
