VIDEO: Protests Continue in Paris as Activists Shatter the City
For four days now, French trade unions have been holding mass protests against pension reforms. French media report that hundreds of demonstrations are set to take place across the country today.
According to media sources, law enforcement agencies anticipate that between 600,000 and 800,000 protesters will participate in the actions nationwide, with 90,000 to 120,000 in Paris alone. The French Ministry of the Interior has stated that on February 7, 757,000 people took part in demonstrations against the pension reforms.
It is worth noting that one month ago, French Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne presented the government's draft pension reform plan, which aims to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64 years. The increase is intended to be gradual, completing the process by 2030.
