Kurdish Militants Halt Attacks in Turkish Cities
The Kurdish militants of the PKK group have announced a temporary halt to their attacks to facilitate rescue operations following the powerful earthquake in southeastern Turkey and certain parts of Syria.
"We are halting operations in Turkish cities. We have decided not to carry out any actions as long as the Turkish state does not attack itself," said the leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), Cemil Bayık, to the ANF news agency.
It is noteworthy that the PKK has been labeled a terrorist organization by Ankara and its main western allies since 1984.
