Karin Tonoyan Stops Political Activities

The leader of the "5165" movement, Karin Tonoyan, has announced that he is halting his political activities. He made the announcement on his Facebook page.

“Dear compatriots, I inform you that due to recent events in the Armenian army and the prevailing situation, I find it more important at this moment to focus on studying the issues faced by the Armenian army and its soldiers and to support their solutions within the constraints of my capabilities. Understanding that an opposition political figure will always be kept away from the army, I have decided to cease my political activities and fully dedicate myself to addressing the issues of the Armenian soldier and the armed forces of Armenia.”

“I want to remind you that my decision to enter politics was motivated solely by the following reasons:

• The understanding that my child and the children of thousands of mothers have become victims of the treason of anti-national elements that have come to power as a result of the political landscape of our country over the past 30 years.
• The realization that no matter how hard we strive to be good teachers, doctors, scientists, or any other specialists and serve our Fatherland impeccably, it will yield no results if the country is governed by individuals who do not love the land, lack a sense of responsibility for the patriotism and collective dignity of our nation, and are constantly seeking 'masters' around them.
• The conviction that new Armenian-centered, nation-benefiting political forces must be created that rely on their own strength.
• Belief that it is imperative to clear the rubble of the entire malfunctioning political structure of the Republic of Armenia and facilitate the inevitable process of replacing it with young, qualified individuals devoted to the country with selfless love.
• Ultimately, the goal is to continue the struggle for our children, to restore the meaning of their self-sacrifice, and to reclaim the victories stolen from them.”

“During my nearly two years in political activity, I deeply realized two things: that a sense of distrust, disbelief, and aversion towards anyone involved in politics has formed among the people due to the inhumane, anti-people, and anti-national policies conducted for years, and that honest and capable individuals, by avoiding any participation in the politics of the country, leave the fate of us and our children to incompetent people engaging in politics.”

“Despite all this, at this moment, by replacing my political activity with more active public involvement, I assure you that I will continue to support the work and establishment of young political leaders and forces to the best of my abilities and will keep in focus the existing political and civilizational issues in the country, doing everything possible to bring the struggle of Menouayis and all of our children to completion.”

“I am grateful to the entire team of the '5165 Movement' for proposing that I lead the movement, driven solely by respect for my life experiences and ideas, thus initiating a new culture of governance of a political force by a non-partisan individual in the political arena of Armenia, reminding once again that the idea should unite and lead the political force, and not any individual. I wish success to my friends and assure them that as long as this political force remains committed to its goals and ideas, I will always follow and support them, while simultaneously being the first critic and advisor.”

“I believe in the future of our country, for which the lives of our best children have been sacrificed, and this future begins with security and the establishment of a powerful Armenian army. God and the Fatherland,” he wrote.
