VIDEO: Russian Ambassador in Baku Believes the 'Zangezur Corridor' Project Will Be Realized - TASS

Azerbaijani media outlets have published an interview with Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov. The journalist posed a rather manipulative question about the possibility of "cutting through Armenia" and connecting Azerbaijan with Nakhchivan. The Russian diplomat emphasized that he views the solution within the framework of unblocking all regional communications, as stated in the November 9, 2020 trilateral statement, and noted the economic benefits of unblocking all transport connections, as reported by TASS.

According to the article, “The Russian ambassador in Baku believes that the project of the Zangezur corridor will be realized.”

“I believe that this direction (the Zangezur corridor - notes TASS) has all the grounds for implementation. I do not see insurmountable disagreements on this issue,” said the ambassador in an interview with an Azerbaijani information and analytical portal. A video recording of the interview has also been published.

The ambassador noted that there is a trilateral working group at the level of the deputy prime ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia, which is dealing with these issues. “They have actually reached a high level of mutual understanding in terms of both business interests and technical considerations for the implementation of this project. Therefore, I believe that this is quite feasible, and let us hope that the same economic considerations will prevail,” Bocharnikov emphasized.
