Iran Does Not Oppose EU Observers and French Gendarmes Deployment on Armenia-Azerbaijan Border: Zohuri
The Islamic Republic of Iran does not oppose the deployment of a European Union civilian observation mission and French gendarmes along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. This was stated by Abbas Badakhshan Zohuri, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Armenia, during a conversation with reporters, as reported by Sputnik Armenia.
“Iran's stance is that the problems between regional countries should be resolved with their participation. Other countries can contribute to ensuring security and peace in the region. Resolving issues with the participation of regional countries can ensure security and peace that is based on dialogue and discussions,” Zohuri stated.
The EU civilian mission's observers will begin their work on February 20, and there will be eight gendarmes from France included in their team.
