Prisoners Set Fire to Their Cells in Turkey's Hatay Province
Prisoners at a facility in Turkey's Hatay province set fire to their cells around 1:00 PM on February 8. According to Turkish media reports, the prisoners attempted a revolt in order to receive visits from their families.
A group of 250 inmates attempted to escape from the prison. As a result of police intervention, 12 prisoners were injured, with 3 succumbing to their injuries in the hospital.
Since the facility was deemed unfit for use, the prisoners have been transferred to prisons in neighboring provinces, according to Ermenihaber.
