Armenia's Retreat in International Anti-Corruption Report Raises Alarm, Says Pashinyan

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the recent report published by the international organization "Transparency International" titled "Corruption Perceptions Index 2022," which indicates that the Republic of Armenia has recorded a certain retreat.

"This is a very important indicator for us, and we have very clear objectives in our anti-corruption strategy to show progress in this index. We have a specific action plan until 2026. Even a slight or not very significant decline in this index is an alarming signal for us," Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a government session.

The Prime Minister convened a meeting with Varuzhan Hoktanyan, the program director at the "Transparency International" anti-corruption center; Haikuhi Harutyunyan, the chairperson of the Anti-Corruption Commission; and Karen Andreasyan, the chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council to understand the reasons behind this setback.

The international non-governmental organization "Transparency International" has published the 2022 corruption perceptions index, which shows that Armenia has weakened its position by losing three points, now scoring 46 points and ranking 63rd place, down from 58th place last year.
