The European Seismological Centre has reported that the number of aftershocks following the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria on the night of February 6 has started to decline. As reported by 'RIA Novosti', this was announced via Twitter by the European Seismological Centre.

'The frequency of aftershocks has begun to decrease following the two powerful earthquakes,' the statement read.

The death toll from the earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria on February 6 has reached 5,261, with thousands more injured. Thousands of buildings have collapsed in both countries. Humanitarian organizations are particularly concerned for the residents of northwestern Syria, where 4 million people were already living with the hope of humanitarian assistance.

According to the latest data, the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey on the night of February 6 has resulted in 3,549 fatalities and 22,168 injuries. In Syria, the death toll has reached 1,712, with 3,649 injuries.
