Fire Continues to Burn at Turkey's Iskenderun Port, Efforts to Extinguish It Unsuccessful

The fire at the port of Iskenderun in Turkey continues to rage, according to local media reports.

The affected area has significantly increased and may span several hundred square meters. Major freight transport companies have started sending containers that were being transported to this port to other destinations.

Iskenderun is a major Turkish port located on the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. It accommodates cargo ships, oil tankers, and container ships.

During the earthquake on February 6, several rows of containers were literally piled up, halting its operations. Later that evening, a fire broke out in the containers. The cause has yet to be determined.
