Armenian Ambassador Reports on Deaths and Injuries Among Armenians in Syria
There is a complex situation in Syria due to significant destruction in the country, with rescue services striving to do their utmost to bring civilians trapped under rubble back to safety as quickly as possible. This was mentioned by Tigran Gevorgyan, the Armenian Ambassador to Syria, in an interview with "Hayereh Today."
"In addition, weather conditions, particularly in Aleppo and Latakia, are creating difficulties as well. At this moment, we have confirmed reports of the deaths of two of our compatriots. They are a mother and son. The husband and daughter were caught under the rubble; we received news that they have been rescued and are undergoing surgery. The Armenian Embassy in Damascus and the Consulate General in Aleppo have established working groups and operational headquarters, and there will be a 24-hour duty roster. We are currently gathering information on whether there are any Armenian citizens among the injured," the ambassador stated.
He noted that there are no Armenians among the injured in Qamishli and Kessab, saying, "I am in contact with Kessab's Mayor Vazgen Chaparyan several times a day, who informed me that there are no injured among our compatriots. One Armenian church, the Holy Virgin Mary church, was slightly damaged. There are no serious injuries."
