Saakashvili's Release Case to be Forwarded to Strasbourg Court, Lawyer Says

The lawyer of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, Shalva Khachapuridze, has announced that the case for his client's release will be forwarded to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) within two to three days. This was reported by Kp.ru.

“Of course, we will appeal this (the Tbilisi City Court's decision on Saakashvili refusing to be released due to health reasons) only in the appellate court, so that the phases will be completed quickly, and within two or three days, following the provisions of Article 39, the case will be sent to the Strasbourg court,” Khachapuridze stated.

The Tbilisi City Court rejected the request of former President Mikheil Saakashvili's lawyer today, February 6, 2023, regarding his release from prison for health reasons.
