Food Delivery Service Couriers Protest in Tbilisi
Employees of the Wolt delivery service held a protest in Tbilisi, demanding higher wages, reports 'Novosti-Georgia,' noting that Wolt is one of the most popular delivery services in Georgia. The couriers stated that their compensation does not match the workload they face on congested routes, as well as in snow, wind, and rain. They are calling for a review of pay rates and to address issues in the Wolt app that lead to missed payments for couriers and incorrect calculations of their mileage. The couriers have warned that if the company does not respond, they will halt services in the city. Wolt's management has yet to comment on the incident. This marks the fourth wave of protests in Tbilisi this year demanding wage increases. Ambulance workers are also calling for higher salaries, and taxi drivers from the Bolt service have made similar demands. Additionally, due to a state of emergency created at the opposition 'Formula' TV channel, news operators there have stopped working, also calling for higher wages. The TV channel's management has dismissed 24 employees, accusing them of extortion, ultimatums, and illegal strikes.
