VIDEO: Putin Came with Specific Proposals, Says Pashinyan

At the CSTO summit in Yerevan, Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived with specific proposals. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council held in Almaty, as reported by the Prime Minister's Office.

“We agreed on the aspects of the approved options for opening regional infrastructures; however, unfortunately, those agreements could not be implemented due to the destructive and unproductive stance of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” said Pashinyan.

According to him, Armenia is not only ready but also interested in the opening of transport and economic infrastructures, as the Republic of Armenia has been under blockade by Azerbaijan for the past 30 years. He emphasized that Armenia is very interested in the opening of all transport and economic infrastructures in the region.

“We believe that this should occur in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Armenia. I mean the 9th point of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, and we have further specified it in the trilateral statement of January 11, 2021. We have repeatedly stated that when implementing the 9th point of the trilateral statement, we must act according to the legislation of the countries through whose territories the infrastructures pass,” he noted.

Addressing the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Prime Minister stated that it is a very important and sensitive issue in Armenian-Russian bilateral relations. Pashinyan emphasized that the Russian Federation is a key partner of Armenia in the field of security; however, the situation in this regard is not very favorable in Armenia.

“You know that for more than a month now, the Lachin Corridor has been blocked, which, according to the trilateral statement of the Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia, should be under the control of Russian peacekeepers. Now it turns out that the Lachin Corridor is not under the control of Russian peacekeepers, which creates specific problems,” said Pashinyan.

He also referred to the CSTO and expressed hope that all issues will be resolved successfully.
