Video: Heavy Snowfall in Shirak Province

Heavy snowfall is reported in Shirak Province. Drivers are advised to travel only when strictly necessary and to use winter tires. This information was provided by the Shirak Regional Administration.

As of February 2 at 17:15, heavy snowfall continues across all regions of the province. Blizzards are occurring in the regions of Ashotsk and Amasia, making the roads impassable. Ground snow is also present in the Lanjik-Mastara section.

All inter-state, national, and regional highways are open, although some segments are difficult to navigate and icy patches are present. Service companies are working to clear snow and treat the highway surfaces with salt and sand.

The rescue service also informs that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads in the territory of the Republic of Armenia. Roads leading from the "Amberd" high mountain meteorological station to Amberd Fortress and Kar Lake in Aragatsotn Province are closed.

The Vardenis Pass (from the Gegharkunik Province side) is closed for trucks with trailers, while other vehicles face difficulties in traversing. The Amasia-Berdashen highway is impassable.

There are patches of black ice on the roadways of Chambarak city and the Gyumri-Yerevan highway. Snow is falling in the Vardenis Pass, sections known as Saravan-Zanger, and Meghri Mt, as well as in Kotayk, Lori, and Shirak provinces, and in cities like Chambarak, Gavar, Kajaran, Jermuk, Yeghegnadzor, and Dilijan, along with the regions of Aparan and Talin.

Blizzards are present in the areas of Amasia, Ashotsk, Maralik, and Gyumri. There is fog in Talin city and the Ashtarak region.

According to information received from the Emergency Management Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Crisis Management Center of the Russian Federation’s Ministry of Emergency Situations for North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Larsi highway is closed for trucks. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
