VIDEO: "They Need to Understand Us, Look the Other Way... We're All Risky, If There's a Fire, We Won't Just Stand and Watch," Say Traders of 'Malatia' Market
“We understand the government and the inspection body too. About 4-5 thousand people here depend on this place for their bread. We need a bit of understanding from the government; they shouldn’t just close us down because they were told to do so. If the Prime Minister has issued a directive, can’t they reconsider that?” said one of the traders from the 'Malatia' market during a conversation with reporters.
“We need people to understand us, to give us a little space, to overlook the situation. In the event of a fire, we will immediately extinguish it. We’re all risky here; if a fire breaks out, we won’t just stand and watch,” added another trader.
“People work here to feed their families. The shortcomings have been pointed out and will be corrected. If they close us down, they are cutting off people’s livelihood,” they noted.
It should be reminded that the head of the inspection body of Urban Development, Technical and Fire Safety has decided to close the 'Malatia' market starting today, February 1st. Samvel Avetisyan, the director of the 'Malatia' market, will meet with the inspection body along with 10-12 traders for discussions.
