Hungary and Azerbaijan Sign Joint Strategic Declaration

The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, and the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, have signed a joint declaration on the expanded strategic partnership between the two countries. This was reported by Azerbaijani media.

It is noted that the declaration was signed in Budapest as a result of negotiations held between the two countries. In addition to this, the parties signed six other documents, including a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the natural gas sector and a memorandum establishing friendly ties between the cities of Shushi and Veszprém.

Commenting on the negotiations, the Hungarian Prime Minister stated that energy issues are at the center of attention for Baku and Budapest. According to Orbán, Azerbaijan is an important country for Europe’s energy supply.

As reported by RIA Novosti, during a meeting with Orbán, Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan could be a reliable energy supplier for Europe for the next 100 years.

“Our country has enough energy to meet Europe’s demands as a reliable supplier for the next century,” he said.
