Arrest Made in Case of Soldier's Gunshot Wound

The Ninth Military Investigation Division of the Military Investigative Committee of Armenia is conducting necessary measures to clarify the circumstances surrounding the gunshot wound sustained by soldier A. A. This information was reported by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

On January 29, 2023, at 17:00, a report was received from the RA Ministry of Defense's Kapan division, stating that around 15:00 that same day, a conscript soldier, serving as the assistant to the commander of the combat position of the RA Ministry of Defense's N military unit, while unloading a factory-numbered AK-74 assault rifle assigned to conscript A. A., accidentally discharged a shot. As a result, A. A. sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was transferred to a medical facility.

In connection with the incident, criminal proceedings have been initiated under the first part of the second section of Article 532 of the RA Criminal Code. Immediate procedural and evidentiary actions are being carried out to clarify all circumstances of the case. A forensic medical examination has been appointed. The assistant to the commander of the combat position has been arrested.
