Peskov on the Possible Phone Call Between Scholz and Putin

There is currently no scheduled phone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. This was reported by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, according to RIA Novosti.

Scholz had previously stated in an interview with Tagesspiegel that he is willing to talk to Putin over the phone. He mentioned that their last conversation took place in early December, and he would once again speak with the Russian president, as there is a need for dialogue.

“So far, there have been no discussions regarding an agreed-upon phone call in the schedule. Putin has been open to communication,” Peskov said in response to a question about whether such a conversation is already planned and if the president has any desire or intention to speak with the chancellor.
