Iran’s Response Will Be Very Severe: Iranian Foreign Minister
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has stated that if actions are taken against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that impact the effective governing body and the country's official military sector, Iran’s response will be very severe.
“The act of the European Parliament showed that they have no proper understanding of the internal situation in Iran and even of Iranians abroad. This step also demonstrates the effectiveness of your actions and expressions in protecting the national interests and security of the country. We informed the relevant authorities of the EU two months ago that if actions are taken against the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that pertain to the effective governing body of the Islamic Republic and the country's official military sector, Iran’s response will be very severe,” said the Iranian Foreign Minister.
According to him, EU countries are well aware of their own position and their vulnerabilities regarding this issue. “After the adoption of this non-binding decision by the European Parliament, the Council of Ministers of the European Union held numerous discussions and concluded that they cannot play with fire and have opted for a second scenario. They have included the names of certain individuals on the sanctions list,” the minister noted.
