“Even They Are Unable to Lift the Blockade”: t-online Reports on the Situation in Artsakh
They want to see how Armenians die: Artsakh, officially known as Nagorno-Karabakh, is a de facto Republic surrounded by Azerbaijan. Almost exclusively Armenians reside in Artsakh; however, a conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan has been raging for several decades. This is reported by the German news portal t-online, addressing the situation in Artsakh.
“In 2020, Azerbaijan launched a bloody war attempting to fully seize the territory and expel the Armenians. The war lasted 44 days, with numerous war crimes reported and over 6,000 casualties. It ended with a ceasefire agreement mediated by Russia. Since then, 2,000 Russian soldiers have been stationed in Artsakh to ensure the safety of the Armenians as peacekeepers. It is only these Russian forces that are currently preventing Azerbaijanis from invading Artsakh during the blockade. But even they are unable to lift the blockade,” the German news outlet states.
“International experts and observers are unanimously convinced that they are not environmental activists, but supporters of the Azerbaijani authoritarian regime. Dozens of ‘protesters’ in civilian clothes have already been recognized as military personnel and representatives of the authorities,” the article continues.
