At Least 40 People Die in Bus Accident in Pakistan

At least 39 people have died this morning in a bus fire in the Balochistan province of Pakistan. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the Geo television channel.

According to the assistant commissioner of Lasbela, Hamza Anjum, the bus carrying 48 passengers was en route from Quetta to Karachi. “The bus collided with a bridge support while making a turn near Lasbela due to speeding, after which the vehicle fell into a ravine and subsequently caught fire,” he stated.

Anjum added that 4 people, including one child and a woman, survived and were transported to the hospital. The identification of the deceased is complicated by the fact that the bodies were burned in the ensuing fire.

Search operations are ongoing at the scene.
