Turkey Expects Iran to Investigate Attack on Azerbaijani Embassy: Cavusoglu

Turkey expects Tehran to cooperate with Baku regarding the armed attack on the Azerbaijani embassy and clarify the reasons behind the incident. This was stated by Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry reported that one person was killed and two others were injured in the attack on the embassy in Iran on Friday. The head of Tehran's police department stated that during interrogation, the arrested assailant explained his motives, saying he acted due to personal and family issues.

During the interrogation, the man told the head of Tehran's police, Hossein Rahimi, that he was trying to free his wife, who he believed had been on the fourth floor of the embassy for a long time.

“We expect cooperation from our neighbor, Iran, regarding this act of terrorism with the Azerbaijani side. It is important to understand who is behind it and why this act was committed. Open exchange of information on this issue is necessary. We value that. It is essential to hold accountable those who are behind it. I extend my condolences once again to brotherly Azerbaijan; Azerbaijan will never be alone anywhere,” Cavusoglu told reporters on Saturday.
