New Details on the Attack Incident at an Armenian Restaurant in Jerusalem
The head of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Father Aghan Abeghe Gokchyan, has provided details about the attack on an Armenian restaurant by extremists in Jerusalem. In an interview with Armenpress, Father Gokchyan explained that Jewish extremists attempted to approach the 'Wailing Wall', but when they were unable to do so via the main road, they took an alternative route where the Armenian restaurant is located.
At that time, there were Armenians, Arabs, and also Jews sitting inside the restaurant. The extremists shouted provocations at the restaurant staff, yelling 'death to the Christians', 'death to the Arabs', and similar incendiary phrases, which led to the ensuing chaos. Following these provocations, individuals began throwing chairs at each other, and patrons in the restaurant left without paying. However, they later contacted the restaurant owner, Mihran Grigoryan, to offer their support and promised to return and pay for their meals.
Father Gokchyan also announced that the Christian communities in Jerusalem have decided to hold a protest at the site of the incident to express their solidarity with the restaurant owner. He confirmed that there were no injuries as a result of the incident; the chaos began only after the extremists’ provocative remarks.
