NSS Warns Citizens

The National Security Service of Armenia has conducted an investigation on the internet and found that an advertising video is being circulated on social media, claiming that Armenian citizens can make large sums of money by engaging in "gas sales" and making small financial investments in the "securities" of the Gazprom Armenia company.

Furthermore, it has also been revealed that apart from these actions, Armenian citizens have provided their personal data in response to advertisements about high-paying job offers from Gazprom, which are posted on a social media page called "Way to Success" on Instagram and Facebook. After providing their details, these individuals were contacted via the WhatsApp application by people claiming to be employees of Gazprom to discuss job details.

On June 6, 2022, the Central Bank of Armenia had issued a statement specifically noting: "Certain individuals acting on behalf of Gazprom Armenia with a forged license as a specialized participant in the securities market are trying to attract customers in Armenia through a public offering, proposing investment programs. Given that this organization conducts unlicensed activities and is not under the supervision of the Central Bank, we urge caution, not to trust or respond to such offers, and to refrain from establishing any business relationships under these proposals."

Investigations by the National Security Service of Armenia have also shown that even after the warning statement issued by the Central Bank, users continue to provide their personal data, including phone numbers, email addresses, and bank account information.

The National Security Service of Armenia calls on citizens to avoid and refrain from falling for the temptation of participating in fraudulent schemes that do not meet international standards, as well as to stay away from suspicious investment offers published on unofficial websites, and not to provide personal and banking information in order to avoid financial losses.
