Injured Serviceman Transferred from Intensive Care to Ward

Injured serviceman has been transferred from the intensive care unit to a ward, reports the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.

Currently, one of the three servicemen receiving treatment at the National Center for Burns is continuing to receive intensive care in the intensive care unit. According to doctors, his health condition is assessed as severely stable. The health condition of the other two servicemen is evaluated as moderate.

It is reminded that on January 19, 2023, after midnight, the officer of the engineering service of the military unit, responsible for the seating period, ignited a stove in the accommodation intended for the personnel of the aforementioned subdivision at house 20, first street of Azat village in Gegharkunik Province, using gasoline, thereby causing a fire in the accommodation.

Due to the absence of fire protection measures, the servicemen present were not only unable to extinguish the fire but also could not break the iron bars attached to the windows to escape, given the lack of an emergency exit.

As a result of the fire, 15 conscript soldiers from the same platoon died, while the officer and four conscript soldiers sustained varying degrees of bodily injuries.

The deputy commander for rear and communal service of the military unit has been arrested in connection with the case of the death of 15 soldiers.
