Aliyev Qualifies Attack on Azerbaijan's Embassy in Tehran as Terrorism

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has classified the armed incident at the Azerbaijan embassy in Tehran as terrorism and has demanded that those responsible be held accountable in a timely manner.

“We demand a swift investigation into this terrorist act and accountability for those responsible. Attacks on diplomatic missions are unacceptable,” Aliyev stated on Twitter.

According to Azerbaijan's diplomatic department, an armed attack occurred this morning at the Azerbaijan embassy in Iran, resulting in the death of a security officer from the diplomatic mission, while two other security personnel were injured.

Iranian sources report that the attacker has been arrested and during questioning claimed that he acted due to personal and family issues.
