This is not just a human rights issue, but a state-sponsored campaign of ethnic cleansing: Armen Gevorgyan at the PACE
The Azerbaijani government, along with its representatives here, wants us to forget about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. This statement was made by Armen Gevorgyan, a member of the ‘Armenia’ faction in the National Assembly of Armenia, during his speech at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
“They do not want you to use the name of this unrecognized country, they do not want us to talk about the innocent victims during the 44-day war. Moreover, in 2021, Azerbaijan also occupied the sovereign territory of Armenia, and in September, they carried out a new three-day aggression in the southern region of Armenia, refusing to withdraw their troops and even conducting fortification works,” Gevorgyan stated.
According to him, we are still witnessing a humanitarian disaster in Nagorno-Karabakh today. The Azerbaijani government has kept the population under blockade for 46 days, obstructing their right to a dignified life, freedom of movement, as well as the importation of food, medicine, and other essential items.
Gevorgyan continued that this is not just an issue of human rights, but a state-sponsored campaign of ethnic cleansing by Azerbaijan.
