Kosovo Special Forces Open Fire on Serbian Vehicle

Special units of the police in the self-declared Republic of Kosovo opened fire on a Serbian vehicle in the northern region of the area, according to Petar Petkovic, director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija under the Serbian government.

“The special forces soldiers fired around 11:30 today at a vehicle near the Bistrica bridge close to the Kosovo-Mitrrovica-Leposavic motorway checkpoint, which had two Serbs inside. The driver, Miljan D., and his companion, Dusan S., were injured,” Petkovic told reporters.

According to Petkovic, the injured have been transported to a hospital in the city of Kraljevo, Central Serbia. A bullet hit one of them in the left side of the chest.

A new phase of tension in Kosovo and Metohija began in early December when former Serbian police officer Dejan Pantic and several of his colleagues were arrested on suspicion of military crimes during the 1998-1999 conflict and terrorism.

Later, the Albanian police in Kosovo blocked entry into the province from Central Serbia through the Jarinje checkpoint, and the self-proclaimed president of the republic, Vjosa Osmani, was forced to postpone the date for municipal elections in Serb-majority areas, where representatives of the Serbian community rejected all structures.

Additionally, Kosovo special forces have stormed the Gazivode dam site, removing Serbian flags from there.
