Very unfortunate incident: EU ambassador in Armenia on stopping bus transporting Artsakh children

«Joghovurd» newspaper reports: “It was a very unfortunate incident,” said Andrea Victorin, the EU ambassador and head of the EU delegation in Armenia, during an interview with the newspaper regarding the incident that occurred on January 17 on the way to Artsakh. This refers to the event where Azerbaijani 'eco-activists' stopped a bus transporting children under the escort of Russian peacekeepers on the road to Artsakh, entering the bus and frightening the minors inside.

When asked by «Joghovurd» about her thoughts on the incident—given that many international conventions had been violated and one of the children had even fainted at that moment—the ambassador responded, “That was a very unfortunate incident, but the EU is active in general. We are trying to solve the issue; we are convinced that the corridor must be opened, there must be free access for people and goods. We have diplomatic relations and we are trying to resolve the issue.”

In response to a follow-up question regarding the violated rights of the children from Artsakh, Ms. Victorin stated, “I believe I have already mentioned that we are trying to find a diplomatic solution.” The EU ambassador in Armenia appeared genuinely concerned.
