During an official visit to the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a delegation headed by Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor Seyyed Mojtaba Shafaei, visited Tehran's traffic management center to learn about its operations. This was reported by the press service of the Yerevan Municipality.

The director of the center stated that the around-the-clock facility operates with about 2500 cameras, fully monitoring and controlling the city’s transportation system, efficiently organizing traffic, and receiving online information about recorded accidents, ongoing construction on streets, traffic congestion, and the constantly changing number of vehicles.

Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan emphasized the importance of applying the leading and successful practices of partner cities in the reforms initiated for the transportation system in Yerevan.

Subsequently, members of the Yerevan delegation visited the Tehran Metro, touring the stations and traveling on the metro. The metro, opened in 2000, has a network of 250 kilometers, 143 operational stations, and transports around 2 million passengers per day.

Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan noted that Yerevan has also initiated the construction of the 11th metro station, Ajapnyak, which is currently in the design phase.
