256 Dinosaur Eggs Discovered During Excavations in India

Scientists from the University of Delhi have discovered 256 fossilized eggs and over 90 nesting sites of titanosauruses during excavations in India, dating back approximately 67 million years. This was reported by the Hindustan Times on Friday.

The researchers believe that the eggs of the titanosauruses are the first of their kind to be found in such a large quantity.

“We noticed that most of the eggs are located close to each other. Likely, after laying the eggs, the female left them and showed no interest in her hatchlings,” one of the researchers stated. According to him, the discovery includes “the largest known nesting site of dinosaurs,” which spans about 900 square kilometers.

The findings from the excavations suggest that there were more titanosaurs living in India than previously known.
