Marukyan Explains Why Soldiers are Based in That House

Soldiers have been stationed in that house because the military unit was destroyed during Azerbaijan's September attack. This was stated by Armenia's Special Envoy for Special Assignments Edmon Marukyan during a broadcast on Public Television, commenting on the fire that occurred at the barracks of the engineering reconnaissance battalion located in the village of Azat.

“After the September 13 attack, when the military unit was blown up, the Government ordered Italian modular barracks instead of the damaged ones. The supplying company had proposed to bring modular barracks used in Afghanistan, but the Government demanded entirely new ones. In that situation, all conditions had to be met, but the barracks arrived. What has happened has its reasons: the soldiers are living in that house in the village because the barracks were destroyed due to Azerbaijan's attack. These modules, which must meet all requirements, have already arrived. Four months have passed since the attack, and this is what has been accomplished. The entire system must be changed,” he noted.
