Conscription Soldier Goris Was the Only Son in His Family

In the village of Azat in Gegharkunik Province, conscription soldier Gor Martirosyan lost his life due to a fire that broke out in the barracks of the engineering battalion located at military unit N.

Gor was from Dilijan. In a conversation with Nеws.am, the community administration mentioned that Gor had been drafted into the army a year ago and had studied at Dilijan High School No. 2. He was the only son in his family and had one sister.

It is recalled that on January 19, around 01:30, a fire broke out in the barracks of the engineering battalion of the Armenian Ministry of Defense in the territory of Azat village in Gegharkunik Province. As a result of the fire, 15 soldiers lost their lives, and 7 were injured. Four of the injured received treatment and were discharged, while three were transferred to Yerevan’s National Center for Burns. Two of them are in serious condition.

Immediately after the incident, the commander of the 2nd Army Corps and 7 other senior military officials were dismissed from their positions.
