Serzh Sargsyan on the Fire in the Battalion Barracks

The third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, expresses deep condolences and sympathy to the families, relatives, and comrades of the 15 servicemen who lost their lives in the fire at the barracks of the engineering reconnaissance battalion stationed in Gegharkunik Province. He wishes a swift recovery to the injured servicemen.

President Sargsyan emphasizes the utmost importance of promptly identifying and holding accountable those responsible for this criminal negligence and all officials who have left the army in abandonment, driven solely by the obsession to maintain their own positions and high state offices at all costs, including through enormous expenditures.

The third President considers the incident particularly tragic in the context of the ruling administration's "unprecedented" reforms in the army, the increase in spending, and the empty rhetoric around the supposed improvement of conditions within the military.
