Zelensky: 'There is no clarity on whether Vladimir Putin is even alive'
It is currently unclear whom to negotiate with among the representatives of the Russian Federation. There is also no clarity on whether Vladimir Putin is even alive.
This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a Ukrainian breakfast in Davos.
"Negotiations do not mean peace. This must be acknowledged by both parties. However, since the beginning of my presidency, we have done everything through diplomatic means to liberate our lands and have constantly offered this. But someone did not want to, then someone did not have time, someone did not believe, and someone set conditions," said Zelensky.
“And today I do not really understand with whom to speak and about what. I am not sure that the President of Russia, who sometimes appears against a green background, is indeed the same person. He appears there, but I do not really understand that it is indeed him, and I completely do not understand that he is alive. Does he make decisions, or is someone else making decisions there? What is the framework of decision-makers? I have no such information,” Zelensky added.
Zelensky also highlighted that the Russian Federation promised European leaders one thing and then began a large-scale invasion of Ukraine.
“I simply do not understand who we are dealing with. Therefore, when we talk about negotiations, I do not really understand with whom. It seems to me that Russia needs to find 'someone' first and then offer 'something',” Zelensky concluded.
