‘No changes or territorial divisions should occur’: Iran’s Foreign Minister to Cavusoglu

The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, has met with Turkey’s Foreign Minister, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, in Ankara. Following their meeting, a joint press conference was held.

Çavuşoğlu announced that they discussed issues ranging from trade relations, energy, and regional developments to counter-terrorism efforts. In the context of Caucasian processes, he specifically stated: ‘We have also discussed regional and international issues in our meeting. The realization of the 3+3 format in the Caucasus and the trilateral meetings of Turkey-Azerbaijan-Iran is important for the stability of the Caucasus and for all of us. We reaffirmed that infrastructure projects to be implemented in the Caucasus are beneficial for everyone.’

Iran’s Foreign Minister presented the official Tehran position regarding issues related to the Caucasus. ‘We are confident that the preservation of the territorial integrity of countries is a fundamental principle, and there should be no changes or territorial divisions in the geopolitical landscape of the region. The openness of communication routes between countries in the region is one of the important issues in this regard, and we consider it a means to strengthen trade revival and sustainable security in the region,’ he stated.
