Earthquake Recorded in Gegharkunik Province
An earthquake has been recorded near the city of Sevan. This information was reported by the Rescue Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia.
“On January 18 at 14:19, the seismic monitoring network of the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations registered an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.3, located 10 km north of Sevan city, at a depth of 10 km,” the statement said. The intensity of the underground shock in the epicentral area reached 3 on the scale.
The earthquake was felt in the villages of Semjonovka and Tsovagyugh in Gegharkunik Province, with an intensity of 2-3 on the scale.
It is also worth mentioning that at 14:08, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 was recorded in Iran. The intensity of the underground shock in the epicentral area reached 8 on the scale. The earthquake was felt in the provinces of Syunik and Vayots Dzor with an intensity of 3-4, and in Ararat, Armavir provinces, and Yerevan with an intensity of 2-3.
