US Will Not Sell F-16s to Turkey Unless it Approves Sweden's NATO Membership, Bloomberg Reports
The United States is striving to exert pressure on Turkey regarding the NATO memberships of Finland and Sweden, Bloomberg reports.
It is noted that the U.S. is concerned that the delay will play into Russia's hands.
“The United States has warned Turkey that Congress may not approve the sale of fighter jets (referring to the F-16s) if Ankara does not ratify Sweden's and Finland's applications for NATO membership,” said a senior Turkish official who requested anonymity.
