Azerbaijan Aims for the Forced Relocation of Armenians from Artsakh, Says Armenia's Permanent Representative at the UN
Armenia's Permanent Representative Mher Margaryan emphasized the importance of decisive action by the UN during a Security Council meeting. According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, a discussion on "Promoting and Upholding the Rule of Law for the Maintenance of International Peace and Security" took place on January 12, chaired by Japan's Foreign Minister, where Margaryan delivered a speech.
"Mher Margaryan drew the attention of the Council members and attendees to the ongoing blockade of Nagorno-Karabakh for more than thirty days, emphasizing that by keeping the Lachin Corridor closed, Azerbaijan aims to implement a policy of forcibly relocating Armenians," the website reported.
In his remarks, Margaryan noted the continuous violations of international law by the neighboring country, acts directed towards the illegal occupation of territories through war crimes and the threat or use of force, stressing that the lack of accountability for crimes against humanity breeds new violence.
