Russia and Iran May Have a Joint Cryptocurrency
The Executive Director of the Russian Association of Crypto Industry and Blockchain, Alexander Brazhnikov, stated to Vedomosti that the Central Bank of Iran is considering the possibility of creating a specific token in collaboration with Russia, which could be used as a means of payment in external trade settlements instead of the dollar, ruble, and Iranian rial.
Anton Tkachev, a member of the State Duma's Committee on Information Policy, Technology and Communications, confirmed the fact of negotiations. He also noted that this issue will be actively discussed at the state level only after cryptocurrencies are fully regulated in Russia.
According to Brazhnikov, it is assumed that the token will be backed by gold, meaning it will be a stable currency in its nature.
