Photograph: A Baby Born During Flight on an Airline

During a flight from Moscow to Khujand (Tajikistan), a baby was born on a passenger aircraft operated by Ural Airlines. The information was reported by the airline's press service, noting that the event occurred the day before New Year's.

According to the announcement, shortly after takeoff, a female passenger began to feel pains in her abdomen and informed the crew. The senior flight attendant reached out to the passengers, requesting that any doctors on board respond.

It turned out that by sheer luck, there was almost a fully equipped delivery room among the passengers: a neonatologist, two midwife nurses, and a radiologist. The medical team assessed the situation, coordinated their actions, and commenced the delivery of the baby. The newborn arrived about an hour later.

The baby girl is healthy, measuring 46 cm and weighing 2600 grams. When the aircraft reached its destination, an ambulance team was there to welcome the new mother and her baby. They have both since been discharged from the hospital and are doing well.
